lottiefox
90mm I'd say on that car. Its an understated kinda looking car, 90 is just enough bling!

Tizzy
I'd also go 90 on the Sport/Sline bodykit maintains the subtle look - IIRC the exhaust outlets are quite a bit smaller than the S4 rear valance. The 100mm's fill the S4 holes to perfection and look very OEM, AmD didn't offer me a choice of tip-dia' I guess they just assumed every S4 owner wants the 100's! simon_golf_tt
Just to add to the confusion - here are 90mm tips on a 1.8T with an S4 bumper! The adjustment shown was the best I could manage lying under the car in my driveway but it's probably not perfect! The 90's look much better than the 70's that were on the car. 100's probably look even better, however I got the exhaust new off ebay for £200! So wasn't going to argue about 90 or 100mm tips!! This exhaust is an earlier version from Milltek and the tips don't adjust on their own - hence the difficulty in getting them to line up exactly. Looks good enough for me. Avus_Bub
[ QUOTE ] I've been told that 100mm fill the holes just nicely, but I'm bothered that it might look a little overstated. It is of course only a 1.8T. [/ QUOTE ] Only a 1.8t!! Well after nearly 3 hours this afternoon, I fitted my Milltek full system with 100mm tailpipes. It didn't go too bad, I had a bit of trouble with removing the downpipe and getting the righthand silencer to fit perfectly.I'm still not happy with the fit on the righthand tailpipe but had to leave work as it was getting late. I'll sort it out in the week. TBH it looks worse in the pic's. I reckon the 100's are the ones to go for Here's the pic's you've been waiting for Shark!! Before After I'm going to paint the back of the rear silencers with some heatproof matt black paint, because I don't like the stainless showing through. It will show the tailpipes off better too. It should look like this when I'm finished............ As for performance and sound, it's made the engine smoother below 2600-2800rpm (better low torque and less lag) and it seems to pull harder when full boost comes in too. The sound is almost factory like below 3000rpm on light throttle and over run, but when you give it some it turns into a very nice mellow roar. I can't see motorways being tiresome at all. I'll quote my mate as I pulled away from his house this evening... [ QUOTE ] It sounds very nice from behind, deep and rorty (sp) with a bit of turbo whoosh.....! Milo
That looks much better BUB I've had to shelve my plans to get the new tips on mine as the car is going back however when I get the new one, I'm going for 100mm and probably the Milltek cat back system. The standard tips on mine are 80mm - they look OK but don't fill the hole very well. Changing them to 90mm seems a bit of a waste of time hence I'm going for 100mm. Here are the pictures of my standard 80mm tips and then the OEM 100mm on the DTM and the Milltek 100mm from their website:
a4alan
I`ve also just fitted tips today (not the system just the tips), 90mm ones..they look good also, if its dry Sunday i`ll take a pic and let all decide..my thoughts....not a lot in it really.. Avus_Bub
Thanks Milo. Yes the DTM has 100mm tailpipes and that's only a 2.0t Agree about not bothering with 90's on the SE. I had to pop into my dealer this afternoon and they had a black SE with full black leather - very nice but a bit too black for me! The tailpipes let it down big time IMO. The Milltek system is the same for the 2.0tq as mine bar the downpipe. It certainly adds a bit of character Shame about your car, I hope it's all sorted and you're back in a SE (with IsoFix) asap! Milo
The worse part will be running another car in again and tootling around while knowing what it can do With the full Milltek system, I would imagine yours will be pushing 250+ PS now? Avus_Bub
We live in hope............ In reality the system has probably given 5-8ish bhp and 10-12 lbft in the midrange. I'll probably get it power checked at some point this year. Of course 'down the pub' it's got 255ps ............. BUB
shark_90
Might be some 100's on order then Feck, that looks good Bub.
IanHo
Milo, Must have missed this one, why is yours going back? Because of the ISOFIX/Passenger Airbag issue or something else?
Audidude
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Have you heard a 1.8T with Millteks? I know on the S3 it never made that much difference to the sound. Hence why most S3 owners never bothered with it. If you are just buying it for looks then I'd say the 90mm tips would be more than sufficent. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, the Miltek on my old S3 was crap - waste of money. [/ QUOTE ] Have to completely disagree. Had a cat back Milltek on my chipped S3 and it was superb. Were your cars chipped? The sound changed from a pathetic egg-beatre that got worse the higher the revs got, into something much deeper and more purposeful - not as nice as a V5 or V6 but miles better than standard. Better throttle response and knocked a full second off my laptimes around a local circuit I have spent MANY laps around - laptime of 50sec, so not an insignificant improvement. Well worth the money IMHO Cheers

shark_90
Cheers for the pics mate.. it fuels the debate further but I think I'm edging toward the 100's although it was the 90's before. I think the mount they stick out from the valance is what makes them look more agressive. If I can achieve the same result with 100mm tips then I'd be very happy Hopefully you'll make it to a meet at some point
kenny_boon
Bub, pics and car look fantastic! you have help make my mind up too do the miltek exhaust for the B6 a4 come with a resonated or non resonated option?
Avus_Bub
Shark, yes I'm up for some meets this year - I missed the A4 meet last year as it was the same weekend I had my re-map in Fife! [ QUOTE ] Bub, pics and car look fantastic! you have help make my mind up too do the miltek exhaust for the B6 a4 come with a resonated or non resonated option? [/ QUOTE ] Thanks Kenny, I think I made the right choice too. The GmbH B6 Avants have a certain 'beefy' look about them from behind and the 100mm tailpipes enhance it even more IMO Milltek only do the one system for our cars - It's a 4 silencer system. TBH I didn't want a loud exhaust, just something more 'purposeful' and that's what I've got! With time I'm sure it'll get louder when the packing get knocked out of the silencers............ Here's a pic of the 1.8t 190 6sp Quattro system........ Note - It's the same as the 2.0tfsi system except the downpipe. I'm going send Milltek some pic's as they haven't got any on their site.
