I wash down the 'ol gal using my pressure washer, and after thoroughly washing, rinsing and finally drying the car off, there is ALWAYS water being retained within the door mirror housings. The only way I can get rid of the water is take the car for a quick spin round the block thus forcing the water from the housings, this has been mentioned before a while back and the ideal solution was to blow the water out using a 12v air compressor...... Rob O Posted July 26, 2003 Report Share Posted July 26, 2003 Best solution, one employed by most professional detailers, is to blow out all nooks and crannies with an air compressor. I'll dry my car, then walk around it blowing out all the places that tend to retain water ... mirrors being the biggest culprit (the must hold a gallon in there somewhere). If you don't have an air compressor, buy a leaf blower ... they work surprisingly well but are more cumbersome to operate. Try it and you'll wonder why you weren't doing it that way before.
