Well sort of, its running in the VW Racing Cup so not exactly in street trim crazy.gif

I ask the local dealership everytime I go in for stuff, "when are you getting one", they just deny all knowledge that any examples are in the country ROLLEY~14.GIF

Its on sale in about a month in the UK isn't it?

Well,

I don't quite know why no other dealers seem to have one yet, We have had ours for nearly 2 weeks now!

I have a 3dr red with leather,PDC,Climate,Winter Pack,CD changer.

I have done just over a thousand miles in it now, my last 2 cars were both DSG Golf Gtis so it has quite a lot to live up to!

My initial impressions are that the handling isn't all that great,I used to have a clio 182 which was excellent, the polo is still too soft.

The engine is good although the gearing is not really suitable for motorway journeys which also reflects in the fuel economy. At 80mph in 5th the engine is revving at about 3700rpm, hence only returning 33mpg on a 200mile run at 70 - 80 mph.

I can honestly say i expected to be getting 40 mpg on a run, The car really is crying out for a 6th gear, strange why they didn't do it when you consider the Lupo GTI did?

The cabin is much better finished inside than the golf with a lot of nice touches, especially the red stitching on the seats, steering wheel and gaiters, this makes the Golfs with anthracite leather look very bland inside.

Overall it is a nice car, just can't really see the price as competitive with options, probably not too bad without. I'm told the one I am driving is about £17500 which is way too close to a standard Golf GTI.

I can take some pictures later if desired!

Matt

It has the 150bhp 1.8T engine doesnt it?

I might be wrong, guernsey VAG told me that the new S3 would be a 3.2 Twin Turbo V6 pushing out 265bhp (good work Audi slap.gif) as apparently the S3 has allways had a bigger engine than the R32 & can't be outdone now ROLLEY~14.GIF

At 80mph in 5th in my 6n2 Polo GTi the engine is revving at about 4000rpm so not too different. 6th gear would be a great addition IMO, it was added to the Lupo GTi after May 2001 I think?

Your car, with its extras, makes it very expensive and way out of my current price range. I'd want xenons, leather, winter pack in fact all the extras you have had specced on your GTi, but as you say £17,500 is a lot of money. Add a couple of grand and you're into mk5 Golf GTI, or mk4 Golf R32 territory!

BTW, I'd love to see some pictures cool.gif

Thanks for the mini review Matt, I'm really interested to hear what its like. I've got a test drive booked at the VW dealer in Birmingham on Saturday, and I'm rather excited.

Quite a few dealers have these around the country now it seems, on the Lupo forum I am a member of there have been a couple of spots. Heres some pics of a black one, which I have to say looks REALLY nice.

Matt, some nice pictures of yours would be nice, especially of the interior, have yet to see one with leather.

Matt R, have you thought of doing the chip upgrade ? ABT also got one I thought, then you'll really be driving a monster smile.gif

A solution to the driving comfort could be lowering btw.. I think doing these things will make you even more happy than you are already! But all that costs money of course ...

I'm curious about the detailed pics!
