mb
Hi, I was looking at getting a simple headphone input to add to gfs stereo (VW beta) via the CDC plug so she can plug in her iPod. Looking here this seems to be the thing http://www.bluespot.co.uk/stock/auxin.asp but it clearly states it will not work with VW stereos. Looking at the pin outs they have connected the brown wire to Right Audio (Pin 20), the black wire to Audio Ground (Pin 18) & the White wire to Left Audio (Pin 19) - is there any reason why this shouldn't work ? I would be happy to repin the plug if I need to wire it differently but can't imagine what is wrong with it ! Available pins are - Data To Changer 13 Data Clock To Changer 15 Data From Changer 14 Power to Changer (+12) 16 Right Audio 20 Power Control 17 Audio Ground 18 Left Audio 19 Thansk! timps
There is no Auxiliary input on a VW radio. If you do not have a CD changer or emulator fitted the radio will assume nothing is connected and not accept the Ipod as a source hence no sound. If you could fool the radio into thinking a CD changer was present it would work in essence an Ipod adapter but then you would not need the lead. mb
I see, just having the wires are not enough, the stereo needs to "see" the CDC rather than just select it as an output. So - does anyone know if there is anything I can do to make the car believe it has a CDC fitted or is this never going to work ?
MikeA2B
Dont buy mjcb!, got one and they dont work, you need the CD data to let your head unit think theres a changer fitted, I bought this last week as this emulates the CD changer data signals http://www.incarexpress.co.uk/view_product.php?partno=AUD01AUX bit pricey tho
mb
Thanks for the link, was looking at importing a Blitzsafe, does that lead allow you to control the iPod from the stereo via the CD buttons ? Cheers Martin

Mook
[ QUOTE ] Thanks for the link, was looking at importing a Blitzsafe, does that lead allow you to control the iPod from the stereo via the CD buttons ? [/ QUOTE ] I'm just upgrading my Dension Ice Link Plus (where you can use the buttons on the stereo to control the iPod in a fairly limited way). The Ice Link plugs into the back of the stereo in place of the CD changer. You can go back and forward through your track list and use 1-4 to select the playlists. The Dension Ice Link is going in favour of a Harman Kardon Drive + Play, which has a mini screen (about 1.5x the size of a credit card but a bit thicker) and a control wheel. You can either use an Aux adaptor (as above) which I'm waiting to be delivered, or you can use the in-line FM cable. Will be selling the Dension when the H/K is fitted and will stick it in the General for Sale and Classifieds. HTH
