If you want to put in the RNS-D (CD navigation) then really don't bother! I've got this in my S8 and it's utter dung.gif compared to something like a TomTom. I'm tempted myself to put in an RNS-E (DVD navigation) as obviously it's a bit more modern - but I still don't know how that compares against the like of a TomTom?

Do a search in here and the ICE forums as theres a couple of folks with 8's in here with the RNS-E.

cheers

Dom

Well no idea how much the RNS conversions would cost but if the only benefit is better sat nav then a TomTom has to be the way to go. They are crashing in price with even the high spec gear doing for £300 in places like Halfords. I have the 700 and its fantastic, and as its removable can come with me everywhere and easy to upgrade from my PC.

RNS would have to be seriously good, and cheap, to beat the portable devices.

I had a Symphony II swapped out for an RNS-E.

Craig on here did it (see the ICE section).

It's fair to say he certainly knows what he is doing and aside from some change of connectors etc and conecting in a new aerial for the sat-nav he certainly made it look plain sailing.

Send him a pm I'm sure he bee happy to help a fellow TSN'er.
