JGILLE30 Posted April 26, 2006 Report Share Posted April 26, 2006 My Golf ran low on oil, no warning light, no buzzer but a loud tapping(knocking) sound. The AA towed me home. I put some oil in and my local garage collected it. They said the noise had gone but they would replace what I used to call tappets. Now I drive for 10 miles and a tapping starts. this builds up then goes away only to return a few miles down the road. Then, after 25 miles the oil warning light flashed and the buzzer scared the life out of me as I'd never heard it before. There is plenty of oil on the dip stick. Any ideas? This is a mesh filter on the end of the oil intake that sucks up the oil into the oil pump But you do have to remove the sump to have a look Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
