Garmin C310 + hard wiring into car

Hi Guys,

some advice would be appricated.

I'am looking to hardwire a Garmin C310 satnav unit into a 2006 A4 TDI 2.0.

Would like to place the unit on to the drivers side at the top of the windscreen, would it be possible to hardwire it into the courtesy light unit, rather than dropping the wire down the windscreen pillar.
