Nearly fell asleep. Found it pretty dull.

Found a BMW 330D Sport Tourer on pistonheads that looks a lot nicer but I was kinda set on the Audi.

That's a shame, can't say I've ever seen a 3 Series Touring that looked nicer than my A4.......... confused.gif

Just a quick question Bub, is the brake light incorperated into the spoiler or is the brake light the in the same position as the normal avant .I was thinking of a rear spoiler myself, but did not want to put on a cheap tacky one.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm not sure. I'd guess it's the same brake light. It's quite hidden under the S-Line spoiler, but it looks like it's just clipped into the spoiler. Your dealer should be able to tell you or I'm sure Nelson will be along soon................... 169144-ok.gif

I would pick the Audi every time on looks, but you never told us what engine you looked at. The 330 is a lovely engine, but are you not perhaps comparing models that aren't similar, or was it on looks/feel ?

I only have £18K to spend so out of range of a lower mileaged Audi Advant 2.5TDi. Still to find even a 1.9 or 2.0 Tdi in a S line. Does such a car even exist?

So that leaves me with money for a 1.8T.

What ever one I get be it an Audi or BMW I will be looking to remap. Coming from a Lotus Elise I still need something that will overtake easily on a country road and of course be suitable for pulling a caterham (hopefully).

I'm hoping I just didn't like the colour of last nights A4.

Much prefer them in darker colours like this one:

This is my current car. Hey does anyone fancy a p/x??

It's a 135R - 150 made. This one is Number 1.

If he goes into Bub's office, he'll come out with an S4. tongue.gifgrin.gif

The 1.8T tunes well, but compared to a 330d it won't feel as fast. What is it you're after, G1981? Looks, Speed/Performance, Handling etc?

I'd have thought for £18k, you'd easily get an 1.9 or 2.0TDI. If you can, go for the 2.0TDi as the engine is a little better and more pokey.

The 330D is a nice car, you won't go wrong with it, but it all depends on what you're after really.

Do you need an Avant?

There are a few 1.9 and 2.0 Tdi s-line Avants about through Audi dealers under £20k. There will be some discount to be had as well so maybe a bit over the £18k mark but only by a few hundred.

Looking for speed and looks. Handling not so important.

In a B6 the S-Line came out in March '04 and only with the 190ps 1.8t engine. Any other engine will be a sport model, either with or without the factory 'Quattro GmbH' body kit.

I agree the 190ps 1.8t feels pretty boring standard but the torque curve is flat form 1950rpm - 5000rpm. A re-map changes all that. The 22mm RS4 rear anti roll bar livens up the steering, handling and feel no end too.

I think you should try a Quattro one. 169144-ok.gif

With a few hundred quid and the right mods' it's a cracking car. Spend another couple of grand and you'll have a 300hp 'Scooby Scarer' wink.gif That you can still drive every day.

Love the ' Lots Of Trouble Usually Serious , I prefer two wheels for my petrol injection................... grin.gif

Hope you find the right car for YOU.
