Muppetboy
I was just browsing dsgwagen's shop (a dealer that sells on Ebay) and he's selling 2x 18" Monza's for £279 each plus £7.95 postage. You can buy just one if you wish, useful if you've kerbed one of yours badly. They're brand new Edited: Sorry here's the linky

JonnyGTi
If you want two there is another brand new pair going on ebay for £460 (for the pair) = £240 each. linky to pair of 18" oops that should have read WAS a pair
Paddy_Driver
Have seen this before and was tempted - I was wondering why he specifically made reference to the build time frame in which these were most suitable for? Were there modifications made to the 18's along the way?... Paddy
mikemod
There seem to be two part numbers for the 18" Monza's Up to Aug 05 build and August 05 onwards Not sure what the difference is.
RedRobin
I recall that when I ordered my GTI in late May 05 my dealer said there would have been a delay if I had ordered 18s. Trouble is that dealers cannot be relied upon not to say anything to suit their purposes. My thinking is that perhaps the numbers relate to batch production or even a different factory premises. Who knows.

JonnyGTi
RR - I presume your car is pre 08/05 then ? and I presume your new 18" Monzas fitted OK which would have been post 08/05 ? It just seems strange that the e-bay ad states :- "Brand new replacement 7.5x18'' Monza II alloy wheel for Golf MK5 GTI's built between 10/04-08/05, part number 1K0601025AH16Z". Particularly as the seller is a VW specilaist. I was looking for a set of 18" Monzas myself and would like to know the difference, if any, between the pre 08/05 and post 08/05 wheels. nhs...thanks for the link, not spotted those yet ! RedRobin
Jonny > My car build week was 11th July and delivered 6th August (but I don't remember my ex-wife's birthdate!!) and she (the GTI) is an 06 spec. The 18s fit perfectly. VW UK could answer your quezzie on pre and post 08/05.

RedRobin
They sound and look like a good buy....The seller is being totally upfront and stating everything as it should be....Plus informative pics. I'd go for the end-early payment to be certain (like I did with Oli)....Durham not too far for you. Good Luck .
JonnyGTi
Difference seems to be about the valve design : Quote : "The pre 08/05 wheels need a special metal tyre valve (which doesn't come with the wheel)and they changed this on the date listed and the later wheel is a different part number. The sizes of the wheel are the same but there may be some slight difference in where the valve go's in"
Tarmac_Terrorist
Am I right in assuming that the GTI comes with silver metal valve stems as standard on the 18"s? I'm sure I've seen them on some pics and not others.
RedRobin
TT > My end-of-March delivered (Euroimports to OliH) 18s have metal valve stems if this info helps you.
JonnyGTi
Again quoting from E-bay seller :- "Visually the later valves come with metal valve caps, the early valves have normal black plastic valve caps"
mikemod
Well here is a picture of the valve on my car, build week 15 2005
Tarmac_Terrorist
Thanks for the pics / info guys. I've seen some nice titanium coloured anti theft valve caps (spinning shrouds like McGuard wheelnuts). These would look great with the colour of the 18" wheels - especially if they had metal valve stems.
