collease
Mk4 golf GTI 1.8T. Rear wiper has been working fine all through the winter but came to use it yesterday and it stopped half way through the full motion. I have checked the fuse and its fine all the lights work and nothing else had gone wrong. I tried just flicking it on and off to see if it had just got stuck but nope even after cleaning the blade and the window still no joy. This morning i managed to get it to complete its wipe but again it still does not work. Is it likely to be a loose connection somewhere or something more worrying. any help most appreciated
jon69
hi, I had exactly same symptoms with mine last winter. Its caused by worn/siezed internals inside motor. Mine started playin up cos i tried to wipe rear screen still full of ice ! not recommended ....Replacing motor is only solution and fitting is a quick easy fix. I got my reconditioned motor for £40 from my local vw/audi salvage yard and took just 30 mins to remove rear panel and hook up. You just need to be careful when removing motor from glass! i used my haynes manual as reference/tips.Good luck

mb
Is it the motor the arm ? The arm can stay still while the spindle turns - if this is the case you can remove the arm, clean up the spindle splines & screw the arm back down - or decide it is time for a polo/touran wiper upgrade !
