olliblue
Leaked by the official VW dealer in Brussels, but don't quote me on it ... RedRobin
230bhp is the interesting one! The rest is just cosmetic. Tuned by who, I wonder.
olliblue
Got this info because they put my GTI order through 2day (MY07) For me, not worth the extra +/- €3000, as there are some decent tuners in BE to get up to 240bhp for €1250. Dealer is giving me the R32 rear lights, think they look much better on gti
stevie_d
tbh the only thing that would interest me on there is the power upgrade, which I'll be doing through Morego (getting the £150 p.a. warranty cover too and around 20bhp more) so I think it's an expensive "option" to have the Anni imho. Of course, residual values are likely to be higher and the car may look a bit more special, I'll have to pass that judgement when I see it. Tarmac_Terrorist
The power upgrade would be very welcome. I wonder if it will jump an insurance group? Also, I do think the mk5 should have a golf ball gear stick to complete the whole retro thing - VW missed an obvious trick with that IMO.
RedRobin
Would def reflect the extra bhp in the insurance premium. Usually goes in 10% increments of original (200bhp) OEM power.
Simonl
Looks like i was on the money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In fact that could even be a copy/paste from my email 3 months ago! I was just 5hp out on the BHP, but i suppose i didn't factor in optimax Anni's are only ever cosmetic and slightly livelier, worth the extra... IMO yes, but of course it's subjective. But that said, previous GTI's have never looked as good as the Mk V, so maybe this anni will be a wee bit OTT!!!

[/ QUOTE ] I agree Robin. It may not push it up another group, but it would certainly increase your premium. They may also take into account that it's a more expensive car and maybe stolen more often due to its rareity.
Timski
I don't like the idea of naff badges in and on the car stating '30 years' - a bit too Citroen AX 'Tahiti' for me. A simple GTI badge is all that is required, thank you. After all, what captures VW's sporting heritage better than these three letters?
Simonl
I doubt it will actually have "30 years" written on it. They've never done that in the past. My guess is that it will be the standard badge with a red insert.
Timski
You're probably right, LeMan. VW are thankfully very subtle with their badging and, as you say, they haven't done this in the past. VW certainly weren't 'badge-happy' with the 20th / 25th Anni models.
Metalex
230bhp would be nice, but not much else would tempt me. 19" wheels is just overkill and I hope it's not the BBS CH design, because I think they're a bit too "80s". I wouldn't want a car with "30 years" plastered all over it either. I'm taking this spec with a pinch of salt though.
stevie_d
Perhaps they'll have the rabbit on the car? Wasn't that on the 25th?

RedRobin
Though I much prefer the unique BBS design of the OEM Monzas, the BBS CH is not at all dated - Current F1 cars have that spoke design - It's a design classic.

I just asked my dealer before I signed my GTI order... BTW, in case anyone wants to know, these are the changes to MY07 in Belgium : -green instead of blue glass -GPS no longer has 6cd changer included in armrest, there is a choice between IPOD/USB/CD-Changer for 230 euros -passenger side rear view mirror moves downwards when in Reverse gear, included in parking sensors pack -storage pack is no longer on option list -3 buttons for remote control garages / gates as option
petsy
IMO the reverse and tilt mirror option should have come at launch.
Tarmac_Terrorist
I wonder if the reverse / mirror thing could be programed / added via VAGCOM. If the mirrors are electric already and obviously the reverse gear has a switch on it for the reversing lights then what else would be needed? silentandy
I was wondering that too! Anyone with VAG-COM know?
RedRobin
Personally, I have my passenger side mirror slightly angled down anyway - For country lanes and kerbing paranoia. So I would find it a royal pain in the arse if the mirror adjusted itself to what it thought I wanted but don't!
