markycee1
Anyone know what the cheap(plug in)resistor type tuning boxes actually do. How do they achieve more power and fuel economy? Do they make a difference to economy? I heard they actually trick the ecu into thinking the engine is cold, and thereby turning on fuel pre-heater coil?? Is this true? Is there any risk in burning out this so called "coil" if it's on the whole time? Other reports, just say it enriches the fuel mixture?? If anyone out there know, I would appreciate your comments. Cupramax
They trick the car into overfueling by fooling the ECU into thinking the intake air is colder than it actually is... you were nearly there.
Tobes49
For a diesel- They fool the ECU into thinking the Fuel temp is over a 100c this in turn should overfuel the car and create more power, Problems are a lot of VW/Audi have a fuel cooler unit which try to cool the fuel, Not add extra fuel. Petrol engine- Does what cupramax said
