Justhe1
I have now had chance to drive the new car for about 100 miles on the motorway and a mix of A & B roads, and my initial thoughts are pretty favourable. The cruise control is simpler to operate that the Beemers first off, and the car actually pulls prety well in 6th at around 70mph, which suprised me going to a 2 litre 4 pot... The ride is firm but compliant, it can get a bit harsh on uneven roads, but again is positive luxury compared to the ride of the M3!! One BIG bug-bear though is the height of the "Dead Leg" footrest for the left leg - its just too high... I sit quite close to the wheel, something that I started to do in the Benner, after years of "straight-arm syndrome", I find by sitting closer and slightly higher in relation to the wheel I have much better car control, and in this position the footrest is too close to you - it needs to be lower down as my leg just doesn't seem relaxed - I've found myself slotting my foot between the clutch pedal and the foot-rest, to stop the outside of my knee from rubbing on the centre console, which isn't ideal... Does anyone else have ths problem, or is it just me?? Can you get a different footrest at all...?! Cheers J
Soapsuds
i'm 6ft4 and have the wheel all the way out and the seat very far back - on a long journey (over 100 miles or so), i tend to tuck my leg in to the side of the clutch, beside the foot rest, yes...... Its comfy like that with the cruise on and my right leg bent up for a rest. Couldnt live without cruise for that reason. I'm one of these freaks that drives for 5 hours without stopping, so like to move around a bit!!!
colly
Another 6ft 4'er here, and on the A3 I have to rest it at the side as its far to high for comfy driving. I haven't looked yet but surley it can be removed so more space would open up down there?
nordberg
hehe We're all 6'4" !! I too find the fot rest a bit too high. I can't see that there's anything to do about it though.
Sponge
I find the footrest a little awkward too. Mainly because the clutch pedal is too close and I have to twist my foot to get it between the two. Even when I do that, it still isn't very comfortable. I tend to rest my foot either behind the pedal or below it.
Justhe1
Glad to know its not just me then!! - I'm "only" 6'2", and can see me taking the foot rest out - shame as it looks nice now I've got the 'Blinging' pedals in....! J
clipstone
Is there no way to move it back a bit? I must admit I thought it was just me getting used to the position on mine (I am about 6'3") but seems it is all of us big 'uns! The position on my Golf was much better. Not a massive issue, but if it could be sorted it would be better than not...

Sparky
[ QUOTE ] no youre the lanky one Im only 5'8" [/ QUOTE ] I win! 5'7 here! I found the pedal angle initially tiring compared to my last car, but it soon became fine after a few weeks of owning it. Now I find the dead foot rest comfortable. Nelson_R32
Hi Justhe1, Your problem will be the RS4 Clutch pedal which you have installed I'm afraid The standard one I used to use was perfect, but the RS4 Dead Pedals we fit are actually a standard one with the metal fixed on top. This makes the Dead Pedal stick out about 1/2 more; not much but it makes a difference. I'm fairly short so I can live with it, but I can see it being a problem for other people. If you can live with it, I'd give the standard one a try again and see how you get on.
