Melchior
The centre air vent panel on the top of the dashboard squeeks in my car. I've heard this mentioned by other owners, but by dealer, although acknowledging it as a known problem, refuses to fix it. Can anyone give me any tips on how to cure this issue??? joffan
I had the same problem on my 05 plate GTI,it's funny the 55 plate I traded in for has no squeeks or rattles at all.Prehaps VW improved the build quality after too many complaints? I'd take it back and insist its looked at,failing that report them to VW UK.
RedRobin
The problem isn't helped by it being random.
Snoopy
I think i posted how i fixed mine a while back. Basically you can get tape that has a fur fluffy type side (don't ask me were from prob farnell as i got it from work) and i stuck this on the dash were the panel rests against. Its the panel moving against the dash.
silentandy
The only squeek I have in my car is from the arm rest, fixed by resting my arm on it! Anyone know how easy this is to fix?
Simonl
I think it's heat making the unit flex

[/ QUOTE ] I have that as well, the dealer "fixed" it at the last service, lasted for about a week. If I could figure out how to get the armrest off I would have a go myself. I removed all visible screws, including the one behind the air vent, but nothing moved.
ChalkyWhite
I have the left hand side vent rattling away all the time. If you press down firmly just above the left-hand vent, it stops. May be something to do with having my windscreen replaced, as I don't remember it from before.

seanie4
I have the same rattle from my centre air vent. I was going to order some tape from the following that I saw recommended by someone on here a long time ago. Look under Aladdins cave and then anti rattle strips. ChalkyWhite
Sorry 5ean, I don't follow you. Where is Aladdin's Cave, is that a member's name? There's nothing in TSN search and Google for that phrase (to do with Golfs anyway!) Thanks
seanie4
Sorry! I was about to paste a web address in and forgot when writing my post! The address is www.vagparts.co.uk, then look for aladdins cave!
