soft paint ?

I've read on hear about 'soft paint' on the mkv

Any ideas if it takes long to 'cure' ?

Is it really that soft ?

Thats odd as i would of thought it would be pretty similar to the mk4, which is meant to have really hard paint.

Hmmm soft paint. Sounds a bit concering. I read about dark shades of Audi's having so called 'softer paint'. I read this in Auto Express following owner complaints of bird sh1t marks spoiling paint work. It was the metallic colours affected I think.

bird droppings tend to be very acidic hence the need to remove it quickly from the paintwork.

Since they were made to remove all the nasty solvents from the paints a few years ago and make them water based, I think all paints are softer now?

When they mention soft paint, I think they mean it scratches easily especially on the DBP. I know mine was soft on the bumbers (front and back). HTH

Bonnet was chipping way too easily for the first 2 weeks, but i got mine in feb when all those fecking gritters were out. Got the paint shield 3M protection applied to it so stone chips on the front not an issus now. Def worth doing me thinks. Rest of the car doesnt seem to scratch easily any more, tho it has had several layers of wax to protect it now
