Starkitten
Hi! I need two new tyres for my MK5 Golf 1.9 TDI sport. I have only done 9700 and can't believe I need two already! Just wondering if this is about right? or if i've done something wrong? I always keep the right pressure in them and check on a weekly basis.... I have Dunlop sp sport 01A's and have heard that dunlops tyres are usually a softer compound. Can anyone recommend a different brand of tyres that may last me a little longer? £130 for the 2 off etyres.com is good, but not happy paying it after such a short time!!! pingpongpo
9700 miles does sound steep. I assume they're on the front!! Perhaps you should slow down going round corners? I would hope to get twice that out of a pair of shoes tbh
Starkitten
Yeah on the front............. reckon i'm going too quick round corners then? Oooops...... can't be the only thing though?
Rustynuts
For comparison, I just changed the front tyres on my Bora at 28k miles, and put Michelin Pilot Primacy's 2 on. Tyre fitter expects them to give possibly 25% more than the Bridgestones (original factory fitment) that came off. I can cope with that. When I had the 307 D Turbo, we only got 11k miles out of the fronts and they were Pirelli. If I ever buy another car with Pirellis on, I won't buy it.
