Hi,

I have a 2001 facelift model and it looks like my drivers door sensor is on its way out. Does anyone know if the sensor is built into the door latch - and if so is it easy to replace, or best to leave to Audi? I have checked Haynes and they strangly dont menction it even though i believe it is a common fault with audis >?

Thanks

Dave

Apologies - i also reciently purchased a 'spare key' off ebay. It is the right frequency and i have got it to open the doors, but the immobiliser dosnt like it. Audi is quoting me £92 is get it working but i have been told a 'good' locksmith can do this? As this is only a spare has anyone else used a locksmith for this?

Cheers

Question 1.

Micro switch is integral to door latch mechanism, and notorious for failing. Its a door lock job. Some have limped it through, by spraying electrical contact cleaner in there, but they are only delaying the inevitable.

Question 2.

No idea im afraid, never had to deal with new keys, but im pretty sure the special code required to code the key is an Audi only process.

im sure someone will pop along to confirm/deny.
