Waylander
Dad want a Corolla to run around in, ideally auto but not an absolute. What price should I be thinking of for a 5 door 1.3 corolla, about 40K on the clock, W-reg? seen one for £2.5k and it seemed expensive to me.... suggestions for where to source one are also welcome
Ian_C
W/X reg would indicate new shape, yet 1.3 indicates old shape? No doubt some old shapes were registered late on a W though... Glass's have an old shape 2000 V Corolla 1.3 GS 5dr liftback Auto with 40k on the clock down as £3550 retail and £2225 trade. For your info, they have the Auto model as £275 over the standard manual. Waylander
Thanks Ian. It may be a 1.4 as I think it is the new shape; haven't actually seen the car myself yet, a friend of my dad's who was askin around fed it back to me and said it was good condition. I guess £2.5k is a good price then [it is manual]
Ian_C
A 2000 W new shape 1.4 VVT-i GS 5dr manual is almost £3500 retail hence yes very much so! Doesn't look like you can get the new shape 1.4 with the auto box - only the 1.6 VVT-i. Ian
Waylander
aah okay. My dad has had both knees replaced and wanted an auto; he has also said he wants a toyota and since it is all local driving i figured the corolla fit the bill. Ian_C
Cool. A 1.6 Auto is only a few notes more in the book, although obviously vastly less common than a manual, hence you will have less choice and less chance of a bargain. Might be wise visiting your local Toyota main agent and bunging the sales manager a fiver. A part ex's of this spec will be too old for their forecourt. Make him aware you appreciate it will be sold as seen, and not your normal main dealer purchase. He'll make far more money selling it to you for just over book than flogging it down the auction under book. Ian
