Just bought a new R32 mk V which was in stock at the dealer. The car was the right spec apart from no parking sensors. No problem said the salesman,VW do a parking sensor kit for the golf which can be fitted at the dealer.I had this kit fitted but the control unit could not calibrate itself. When the dealer called VW UK it seems that the kit is suitable for every golf model EXCEPT R32.Has anybody else experienced this and what was the outcome???

I just had a very discrete flush Laserline system fitted to mine (not by VW) & it works perfectly with the sensors in the same position as the factory fit ones.

I think it looks as good or better than factory.

Can't think why the VW ones don't work on the .:R as when we fitted mine we did a Golf Tdi as well and took the rear bumper off both cars so that they could be fitted from the rear. The bumpers & wiring are identical from the inside & all the fittings are the same.

RedRobin has the dealer fitted kit on his Mk5 GTI with its 4 Miltex tail pipes so i cannot see why it will not work on the R32 confused.gif

....Whether OEM or aftermarket, the sensors are fitted above the rear valance. As Snoopy says, mine were fitted aftermarket by my VW dealer, but they are black and not colour coded. I'm not on my Mac so can't post any pics.

Hi

I have just joined the golf club, I suppose.

I collected a 1.4TSI - 170bhp yesterday and the spec is very standard except for metallic black paint.

I came from an 05 plate Audi S4 cab as work was not too happy paying for the fuel so I bought the golf for my office commutes +35k miles pa.

The car is great and seems to have quite a bit of kick, no where near as much as the S4 obviously, this will be solved when I get the 05 plate 996 in a few weeks.

I was wondering what I can retro fit to the golf - I noticed that you have retro fitted parking sensors, where did you get them installed? can you retrofit the arm rest and cruise control + sat nav?

many thanks

Hi Richard,

I am not an expert on the Mk V, have seen that engine is that the one with the turbo & the supercharger - had no idea it was only 1.4 that is impressive.

Satnav is a simple fit for the MkV - though it may be worth double-checking you have a "quadlock" connector on the back of your stereo before buying a unit. iPod connectors are another popular accessory, I don't know about an armrest but these are usually easy to retrofit if required - I have never had one so don't want one but everyone who has had one seems to miss them !

If you have a look at ukmvIVs - there is a lot of MkV golf stuff on there which may give you a better idea of the upgrades you can carry out MkIV/V Community
