skippy1980
I have a 1999 Bora V5 (150BHP) it's done 76K and FVWSH, it went for a service about 2 weeks ago and I asked them to look into a couple of things. Anyway they came back and said that the following needed doing, 1, replace the power steering pipe between pump and rack and was leaking. Quoted me about £150 ish for parts and then labour but can't remeber how long, can I get a 3rd party made pipe rather than VW? How much do you think to get work done? 2, The condenser for CLIMAtronic climate control was replaced about 6 months ago and re-gassed. All seemed fine until recently when we go the hot weather and noticed that it doesn't get remotly cold. Any ideas why this may be happening, maybe a senor or control unit? Any help would be much appreciated Thanks in advance. Luke
pingpongpo
No.2 I would say it hasn't been gassed properly.
AidenUK
No 2, I had to get mine re-gassed yesterday because the Air con was not kicking in at all, I noticed straight away with this hot weather, the guy that did for me reckons that if you air conditioning runs out of gas (which mine did) the climate control wont kick in, apparently this stops then condenser from nackering up. I got my car back yesterday evening, and its ice cold, def notice the difference now, it cost me £72.50 in total (with a air con system service included - don’t no what needed servicing tho). I am almost certain it has not been gassed properly... Aiden

AidenUK
Good luck hope its not too costly, i think 75 quid is the going rate for a re-gas, i got many quotes yesterday before deciding to go to the garage i did all ranging from around 70 to 100 quid. skippy1980
Just got back after having a re-gas, it cost £75 all in but it hasn't sorted the problem out, they did come up with a fault code of - 01206 (SIGNAL FOR TIME CONT ?) They were unable to work out exactly what it was so any help on this much appreciated. He said that the belt for the compressor was going round but the actual wheel was not turning, maybe something to do with the above fault code. Hope you can help me out as spoke to VW and they were not interested unless I wanted to pay there high prices. Luke
skippy1980
Just for your info the fault was brought up on a Snap-On reader, not sure if the fault codes differ at all. Luke

dougwa11
hi all, i have had the problem with my air con not being the coldest to, i have had the system topped up with gas, the checker read that it was empty but it took only half a tin to fill, this seems to have made no difference, the air is still very mild, i have checked the power to the air con pump and thats fine, the second fan kicks in on the radiator aswell, the magnetic clutch in the pump is working as it pulls my screwdriver towards the pump, ive been told that the nut in the middle of the pump should start to rotate but it does not, it seems i have tried most things but i thought i would see if you guys could help before i start spending money on getting a garage to sort it, so please please please help me !! skippy1980
Sorry for not getting back before now but only got back from Le Mans late on Monday, It was great! I have checked the 3 blade fuses ontop of battery but all are okay. Do you have any other suggestions of what to try next?
Tobes49
It sounds like the clutch on the air-con pump is not cutting in, It powered by one of the fuses on the battery. It now time to start looking at the wiring.
