Hi just wondering what kind of excess you lot are paying for you remapped s3's.

i got a quote off direct line who im insured with said it will put my premium up £125 but the excess went up to £750.

Im 25 5yrs no claims. just wondered if that is about the norm excess for a remap (30% extra bhp) or are they trying to 123576-assfeck.gif me?

what are you lot paying? beerchug.gif

I cant recall my excess ever changing. I always used to phone ahead of any planned work and get it declared/paid for, before the mods were in place, incase anything was not to their liking.

get a quote from www.Noeldazely.co.uk over the phone.

They are great with mods, and usualy do stonking good quotes. Very popular on the TT-forum.co.uk.

My excess is £300 i think. Ive certainly had it as low as £100 for a few years in the past, when i was 25, but those deals are harder to find now.

My remap only ever put the premium up by £200 ish at its worst, with the other mods not making any difference.

I then swapped cars , and got £140 rebate for a newer higher spec, higher value car!

now the mods have been in place a few years, everything is declared, so its an "all in" price.

As an idea, im paying £725 for mine, all declared, unlimited mileage, full no claims (8 years +)

I am 28 in a good postal code area.

Ahh.. I read ollies post as £500 added to the insurance (instead of £500 for the remap + some more insurance)... I obviously need more coffee !!!

Just checked with Direct line and the difference it would make to me (33, 12 years no claims, good post code)

Current renewal price - approx £480 + £300 excess

Remaped renewal price - approx £595 + £450 excess

So £115 a year on insurance and £150 added to the excess.

Yeah I wondered that too.. i wonder how many people bother to tell their insurance company about the 5 hour Revo trial ? Legally someone with the trail software active and no knowldge of it at the insurance company would be uninsured.... (although as you said in reality it's whether they could detect it..)

I intend to smile.gif I'm tempted to use it as a carrot on a stick to help me give up smoking... (i.e as soon as I get tempted to waver dash to the specialist an get it done.) It would help justify the cost too smile.gif (£115 a year insurance is a drop in the sea compared to the cost of smoking (financially.. let's not even get started on the health aspect wink.gif )

I'm having the revo trial next week.... (although ultimately tempted to take it to AMD for the full remap as I don't think Fontain rolling road it when they do it and AMD do... )

If your thinking of taking it to Amd, think carefully about the revo trial.

if you do, make sure you get the car flashed back to AUDI standard afterwards.

As the when the time period runs out, the code still remains, albeit dormant, and aslo acts as a flag to revo dealers, you already had your free trial.

Amd usually like the cars to be Audi standard with no foreign code in place before remapping.

Insure it, remap it, and never look back 169144-ok.gif

a standard S3 is like its got the brakes on compared to a remapped one. cool.gif

I had the Revo 5 hr trial earlier this year. God how I miss it! It's like losing a limb!

Definately well worth it and the extra expense of insurance!

How much would one of my kidneys fetch on black market?

Direct line quote 0-10% BHP chip and 10-25% BHP chip. Did you go with the 10-25% increase out of interest or the lower ?

Just wondering, as it's difficult to prove what it was running as standard isn't it ?

According to revo it's a 35BHP increase... 35 / 225 x 100 = 15.5%

So I said about 15%....

270 is the most you can achieve from a remap (afaik)... who were you going to get to do the chip ? Revo quote 260 so that would get you down to 50 / 210 x 100 = 23.8% so in the 10% - 25% range....

i was thinking about getting revo to do it coz there are lots of people offering it around. yeah i think i over estimated a bit. ill get another quote.

that prob why they quoted so high as i was out of the power 'brackets'

do you think i should estimate 15%? beerchug.gif
