duffy78 Posted July 31, 2006 Report Share Posted July 31, 2006 my wife is expecting and i'm wanting to get the passenger side airbag in my golf mk iv deactivated. i've been quoted around £190 to have this done by a dealer and i was wondering if anyone new if this can be done anywhere else or if anyone has any experience of this ie if you can turn the airbag back on after or if i have to pay vw again to have this done. my thanks in advance Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
R32North Posted July 31, 2006 Report Share Posted July 31, 2006 I assume you don't have the key in the GloveBox to do it yourself. VAG.com maybe an answer to this, not sure. You could check out the local, independant VW dealers / tuners who'll be able to advise if its a simple case of using VAG.com. neillloyd Posted September 8, 2006 Report Share Posted September 8, 2006 Has anyone sussed this out yet. My wife is due to give birth soon and VW want £82 to disable the airbag on her Mk IV GTI. duffy78 Posted October 17, 2006 Author Report Share Posted October 17, 2006 i got this done in the end, think it was £88. they rearm it for free, i get some nice warning messages in the matrix display now when i start up and got a nice "airbag deactivated" stiker on the passneger airbag cover. we decided you cant really put a price on safety Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
mulkbear Posted October 18, 2006 Report Share Posted October 18, 2006 It can be done else where with VAG-com but i would not recommend it as you do not get the warning stickers and it will not be registered on the VW data base.
