Teacake
I know I've asked this question before, but has anyone had sight of the actual instructions Audi dealers themselves use when changing ATF and the transmission filter? I've seen PaulW's excellent guide, and have the Bentley Repair Manual for the A8/S8, but can only find diagrams of the parts in there rather than the actual instructions of what to do. nikw
Do they use ELSAWin? If so I'm sure one of us could show you that...
Ska
Checking ATF level; changing ATF Changing ATF or filling up after repairs • Engine not running Special tools, testers and auxiliary items • Drip tray V.A.G 1306 • ATF filling system V.A.G 1924 • Secure reservoir of ATF filling system V.A.G 1924 at the highest possible point on the vehicle. • Raise vehicle. Notes: • Observe environmental requirements for disposal. • The engine must not be started and the vehicle must not be towed if there is no ATF in the gearbox. • Place drip tray V.A.G 1306 below gearbox. • Unscrew ATF drain plug -1- and drain off ATF. Note: The drain plug with seal must be renewed. • Tighten ATF drain plug to 40 Nm. • Remove ATF inspection plug -2-. • Guide V.A.G 1924 in through an opening -4- in the deflector cap, taking care not to push the deflector cap upwards out of position. • Fill with ATF using V.A.G 1924 -arrow- until ATF comes out of inspection hole. • Shift selector lever into "P" position. • Start engine. • With the engine idling, depress the foot brake and shift the selector lever through all the selector lever positions, leaving the selector lever 10 seconds in each position. • Shift selector lever into "P" position. • Check and top up ATF level
