A8_Tony
OK guys, I'm shortly going to be able to afford a big brake kit. What's currently the favourite kit? And where can we get it from? I'd also like to add more power, but unfortunately there doesn't seem to be much in the way of options (Superchip is not an option!) Any ideas? Cheers
Botang
It all depends how many pannies your willing to pay, I think Mov-it and AP racing are generally regarded as the top dogs, but other options are available such as http://www.hispecmotorsport.co.uk/
A8_Tony
They're pretty Do you know of anyone who's used them? I've asked Mov-it for a quote, AP Racing do a kit that I've seen for £1600 smackers at one place, and £1900 elsewhere!!
craigyb
Have a chat with Crasher about his brakes, first from AMD then from APS
A8_Tony
Yes, I understand he had major probs with the kit from AMD
Botang
I think the AMD kit was porsche calipers, which PaulW seems to use to good efect BIRA System 6 Brake Upgrade for the A8 IIRC Porsche use Brembo calipers Crasher now mas the Mov-it 6 option Link
A8_Tony
I remember Pauls reviews of the system, and have now read Crashers review. I've e-mailed hispec, they do a 6-pot Monster Caliper that looks the dog's danglies. Might be able to get them interested in doing a deal with a bit of luck

Botang
Just had a search on yahoo for hi spec brakes and the comments posted on the internet are not great. Alcon is another one to consider.
johnss8
Tony, i'm looking at brake conversions at the moment and Ben at Sportech in Ilkeston is pricing me up a set of RS6 brakes, i'll give him a bell tomomrrow to see what he's come up with, might even do a deal for 2 sets
crasher
Just in case anyone thought i'd missed the boat on this, i have PM'ed Tony my input I did inquire about a rear brake upgrade, but for the work they do, and the expense, its not worth it. I've now hit 86k on the car, so i'll be curbing my upgrades now as i plan to change cars within the next 3 months or so (before the 100k miles comes up)
