benjie
Guys, can anyone answer this question for me? I have a Golf MkIV TDi 90bhp and I'm told by a re-mapper that he can get it to 135bhp-ish, with an extra 65nm or torque. Will this jump bugger my clutch?? kite
Hi I had a 110 tdi that was chipped to 150, with no clutch probs.
shao_khan
Which thread to answer on the same subject Most tuners for these engines quote increases of around 30+ bhp and 35+ torque. If you are being quoted 65+ torque I would have maybe a little concern that the clutch might slip when you are giving it some stick as its a big gain. benjie
[ QUOTE ] Which thread to answer on the same subject [/ QUOTE ] I know, but I didn't think the Golf forum was the bestplace to ask the question! That seems ok then, kite's car had an increase of 40bhp, mine should see similar gains.l Though I'll have to be careful about the torque I suppose. Does anyone know... If the clutch starts slipping, can I take the remap off to make it stop? Or is it terminal?
shao_khan
I am sure FAtcat was suffering some slippage with his first map, but having it done with one less aggressive cured the problem - I'm getting old these days but sure it worked like that - so shouldnt be a problem long term.
