kermitfrog
Do a quick oil search in the forum - plenty of advice to be had, especially from the excellent oilman Personally I've been using Castrol Edge 0w 30. Had an oil change last week where it also benefited from a flush and fuel system clean. Well worth it!
colly
Thanks for advice, did do a search but couldn't find anything about sump plug..will try again. A few readup show I should use 15 \ 40 rated oil? is the Castrol Edge 0w 30 suitable for the 1.8T? Thanks again.
kermitfrog
0w 30 is definately the correct weight/viscosity for the S3 lump (conforms to VAG oil standard 503.01) Notice your 1.8T is in a high state of tune so I'm assuming that this oil would be required Hopefully someone else will be along soon who knows for sure. Dunno for sure about the plug washer (god I'm useless!), but I would change it anyway - not expensive/difficult to do.
sufu
Dont mean to threadjack, but, the garage that last took a look at my car topped the oil up with 20/40 oil, and since then i've been gettin a warning flashing up saying "oil" in the little display in the bottom right of the DIS, is this going to cause my car any damage? and will it require the engine draining and replacing with completely fresh oil? kermitfrog
sufu - check the recomened oil in your manual. I've heard in the past of wrong viscosity oil triggering low oil pressure warnings, so this could be a cause of it. If my mechanic used the wrong stuff I'd make him drain it drink it!
