Painted 17s???

You will only have problems if you kerb them, if you dont then they will be no problem. Obviously if they get stonechipped or kerbed, touch then in immediately to stop the corrsoion or flaking They are far less likey to corrod than lacquered wheels, which can be a nightmare if not looked after well.

Most alloy wheels are painted, rather than polished like the face (only) of the 18s. In fact the only other polished OEM wheel I can think of is the 19s on the M3.

I imagine a part-polished wheel is a fair bit more expensive to produce.

As said all other makes alloys are painted even aftermarket, Even the crome ones you see are painted.

The 18s are whats called polished or diamond cut and laqued and the laq becomes brittle with sun/heat/road salt/age etc and starts to lift leaving white lines then it starts to peal.

It does not help BBS wheels are not the best for corrosion resistance anyway. I have never been a huge BBS fan because of this.
