fortunate or unfortunate ?

my son has recently purchased the VW Golf (25th)Anniversary Diesel Model and is now faced with a couple of expensive jobs - that's according to the local VW garage

i'm trying to help him by suggesting that he finds out from other 'users' whether the outstanding jobs and charges sound like value for money they are:-

rocker cover gasket and tandem pump seals

£250 +

both cooling fans stuck on one speed - require renewal - £400 +

can any of you guys help me with this one - would be great to help my son
