Emma,

Just moved into a new house, had friends over, very drunk, might not make sense.

If you buy an Elise, I won't like you anymore. Its the one car I'd buy to replace my MX-5, and I love the MX-5, test driven a 182 Trophy, 172 Cup, Puma's, and I just can't find ANYTHING that matches it for sheer fun.

Why not just push the MX-5 a little harder wink.gif

Besides, for £3k you could have 200bhp kicking out the rear wheels www.performance5.co.uk

The TT isn't a compromise though - I still love it! 300 miles today and enjoyed everyone of them! << Contradiction! >> But I can't do 30K miles in it, it will be worth nothing and I hate leaving it in deepest drug dealing inner city squat land for 5 hours.

.... confused.gif You love every mile but don't want to do the miles!? Is this logic of the female variety? Didn't you buy the car for you and no-one else to enjoy driving? All cars lose money, 30K miles is nothing.

Leaving the car in 'dodgy' areas is a valid concern. However, if you going to such a place regularly, befriend some of the locals and they'll leave your car alone once they know you're cool with them. Either that or borrow GenoDuck's doggies.

Elises are hardcore uncomfortable and impractical as a road car imo.

Its not "logic of the female variety" at all Robin, whatever that means. crazy.gif If I do 30K miles a year in the TT (which I will do if its my only car) I will be way over the PCP mileage agreement. Now we all know they are a bit flexible but not the combined total of 39K additional miles over three years. Add into the fact my warranty will expire at 60K (two years on current levels) and the TT will be worth nothing on its guaranteed value, and be facing some hefty bills if anything goes wrong in Month 28 for example. So, keeping the miles around the PCP level or at least around the 20K level makes sense. Well it does to me anyway.

I don't go to the same dodgy places regularly. They can be anywhere, including railway stations where the TT would sit on its own all day or a street where really you wouldn't get out on your own. No pattern, I go where the work is.

I do love every mile. There isn't any contradiction in my comment. If I owned the TT outright, or didn't have to worry about finance figures and the fact its depreciating faster than a cruise missile at the moment with the Mk II coming out then I'd use it a lot more for work.

Fair enough, Lottie - But I have no idea what on earth "PCP" is, or means. Would you educate me please?

The "female logic" was a sexist remark I made suggesting that it's sometimes typically female (from a male perspective or comparison) to apply contradictory logic. It's a generalisation of course and I say such things while still loving women to bits.

PCP is the finance method - Personal Contract Plan (I think) - also known as huge millstone around neck. You basically make lower monthly payments but have a big balloon payment at the end of the term, this is the guaranteed future value. You can give the car back, pay the figure or use the car as part exchange hoping that your GFV also gives you a bit of equity. The way the TT is dropping my GFV may be the only way I break even (in a sort of way!)with the value being the same as I owe. 169144-ok.gif

Female logic is far superior to all male logic anyway. It just is. tongue.gifgrin.gif

....Ta for the education 169144-ok.gif. I've always bought my cars outright and never on finance.

The logic in your female v male logic statement is utterly flawed of course grin.gif. Females are def superior to males in a great many ways, but logic certainly isn't one of them. Logic is ruled from the head rather than the heart. Just look at this particular thread grin.gif.
