Personally, I think that if you are considering an Elise, it will be a lot of fun, but maybe too similar to the QS, I dont mean in handling or anything like that, but I imagine that you will really enjoy driving an Elise, so much so that you may find yourself driving it a lot more than the TT, that would then make having 2 cars a waste of money crazy.gif

Gotta be prepared for it not to work!!

My brother in law has an 05 plate 111R, only done 900 miles but the headlight is full of condensation + it's almost always on trickle charge!!

Also, drops like a bomb depreciation wise. He paid £32k for his last June, got it valued against an Exige or Europa the other week and they offered £22k for it! As i say, with just 900m on it. May be good mind if you're after a few year old model but i'd still be prepared for some big price drops. They'll be £1500 by 2009!!

On the subject of dealers, the truth is I don't even know where my nearest dealer is, but fortunatly there is a chap down the road that runs a motorsport company that builds and tunes race prep'd MGF's that share the K series engine. Cannot fault him, down to earth, knows what he's doing of and all at £30ph.

As you may remember from when we were at the meet, mine's a 2000 W that I paid £10k for which is a little under book (£12k is about right for a good one I think). There were reasons that it was "cheap" which where that it required: new front discs (now uprated vented ones)and new shocks and springs (now S2 Bilstien versions). The cost of which was about £700. After that came a few mods, 52mm Throttle body, De-Cat pipe and a K&N for a total of about £200. According to my Motorsport chap, he recons it's now producing about 150-160BHP and should release another 10 or so with the exhaust. That means sub 5 sec 0-60 times (with a bit of luck and skill combined...) awesome handling and absolute fun for pennies (well, not quite pennies but you know what I mean)

Yes it does rattle inexplicably from time to time, but getting underneith with a 10mm spanner and tightening the undertray bolts normally sorts that out. Getting in and out of it requires practice, and long drives are tiring. But nothing compares to blasting down empty country lanes, roof off on a summer's evening. Driving back from Heathrow to Colchester last night was absolute proof of this. After a couple of hours of M25 and A12 traffic I decided to come off the A12 at Maldon and add another half an hour to my journey so that I could take the country roads the rest of the way, pure joy!
