2005 54 plates around 15K-£15500 private, upto a 2006 06 plates at around £18500

Have you had many people phone up about it, been to see it etc, im wondering if its supply is exceding demand or no disrespect ment but its a selling/presentation thing.

Sold mine today. 06 DSG 5dr, Import but bought from UK VW Dealer in March for £23995 (cost new UK price = £26050)

Sale price = £19000 - whether you think that price is good or bad is up to the individual really - I done over 6000 miles in the time that I owned the car so around 84p per mile + fuel - I think that is pretty good.

I was expecting you to want far more for it mainly because of what you got for your 3 door in march.

In my eyes it was worth around the 18.5K area i quoted above so 19K was about right in my eyes.

Well if the order book is now closed and you really set your heart on a GTI you would probably look for nice used example...say 6-12 months old and under 10k miles. I suspect that anyone looking to sell in the next 2-3 months will possibly find it easier than the current market. When I bought my GTi I was looking for a nice used example but for an extra £500 (forecourt prices) I ordered a new one and sat out the 3 month wait. The story would have been very different if the order book was closed. 169144-ok.gif

My order for a DSG 3 door GTI was done about 6-7 weeks ago. I had a call about a week later to say that it was "in the system" - what ever that means?

On reading this thread I phoned the dealer in Chichester on friday, not realising it was the 1st September, asking for an update. He said he'd get back to me, but he didn't, but as I recon they were all busy getting the new plate cars out then I can let that one slide.

I hope that my car is all ok and progressing, I'd just like to hear it from the dealer and hopefully get some dates out of him this time.

When I made the initial order I paid an deposit on my credit card, now that I've looked into it I've noticed that the £1000 hasn't been taken from the credit card. The deposit does show as paid on the order form I was given though, also the order was only five weeks ago not the guestimate of 6-7 weeks.

I won't be happy if I find out they've been stringing me along, I need a car come the beginning of November and I made that abundently clear when I made the order!

I don't mind waiting a week or two, but if it's put back a month or more then I'll seriously think about cancelling the Golf to get something else - which is something I don't want to do.

I will ask for a dialogue number see what they say - cheers for that.

I phoned VW HQ, and they've no dialogue number for my car. It's not on their system, but they reckon the dealer can order the car this week (now we're in the new quarter beginning september) They're calling the dealer again this week and are letting me know. I'll keep you all posted, but it looks very like I was strung along from June.

OliH - I bought my GTi as a second car, the car was so good that I ended up driving a bit more than just the office trips.

I would have only owned one GTi in the year but I had a paint issue with my Red GTi - and I ended up trading it for a blue one 6 months in.

As for a replacement - there really is not much in the class that is better than a GTi as an all-round package.

Earlier in the year I pondered on the R32 - but for me, other than the Engine Noise and a little extra pace, I found I preferred the GTi as a daily drive.

For now I am going to use my 911 and enjoy using that...

Enjoy your GTi's - I sold mine to a friend in the end - as he knows that he was getting a well-cared for car. wink.gif

Got a call from the dealer today.

My GTI, although deposit paid in June, still isn't ordered with VW and hasn't got a dialogue number.

Dealer doesn't have any allocation, but they will have come 1st October. At that point my GTI will be ordered with VW.

Bit fed up to be honest with the wait. I wish I'd been made aware of this allocation back in June, as I'd have gone to another dealer.

However, what's done is done, and with other dealers having allocation issues of their own, I will likely sit tight with this dealer and hope all comes good in the end.

The Dealer sales manager is phoning me agin on Friday and will "look at the deal again" and give me a few facts and figures, of throw in something extra like gap insurance or rear parking sensors to compensate me a little for all the hassle.

I got hold of the dealer today, he guarenteed 100% that they have put the order through and that they've got the allocation for my car. There is still no build week number on the system, he did say that the order "was with the factory" or something similar, meaning that it was with them and just waiting for a build slot. He also said that from the start of the build to delivery would be approximately 4 weeks, so I'm doing ok for a early November delivery.

I also forgot to ask for the dialogue number but no matter for now as he seemed plausible.

Ranter, when I phoned to deal for the car originally they said that they could throw in gap insurance, but no money off. Then, when I went into put the deposit on the car the free gap insurance offer was recinded. I wasn't happy about it, he said that they couldn't offer it as it would cost them something like £400. In the end I got sill protectors, an accessories pack and the autoglym treatment for free instead - near enough equal value for me to be happy smile.gif

Cheers OliH but I've PM'd you and emailed last week wink.gif Still pondering what to do!

AdyGTI - I think I got a fairly good deal, and maybe that's why they might be dragging their heels - I got the following:

3Dr GTI, Peal paint, DSG, Bi-Xenons, Winter Pack, Ipod prep, centre armrest, 18"s, Cruise control, semi rigid load liner, a first aid kit, highline computer, rear tinted privacy glass and lifeshine.

All for £23,500

I ordered my base, Tornado Red model (6 speed manual) on 6th August, and have been told that I can pick up my car on 26th September.

That's the difference between ordering a GTI with all the bells and whistles and a standard one. I don't dislike DSG, it's just I don't think I would have got on very well with it. I just love working clutch and stick, and I would feel more in control of the car but that's just me!

Keep me posted about your build weeks etc!

Thats funny, the person who started this thread about books being closed can now (maybe) get cars and at a discount. Is this thread genuine or for self gain. MOLLOX......

[/ QUOTE ]

Read the post again and you will see that I said the book is nearly closed -DOH!!!

And as two people have proved they have ordered cars, that now appear not to be ordered!! Surprise surprise from a main dealer! smashfreakB.gif
