Job interview question

Did they offer you the job there and then? You would have known it had gone well if they'd done that.

Seriously though, it's not always easy to tell, but I'm more used to being on the other side of the desk and I tend to keep my cards close to my chest. However, if I'm not that interested then I'll try and keep it short and sweet, so the length of the interview might be a good sign. I'd guess that you have a pretty good chance.

Good luck!

Be positive, if they've taken you for interview they already "think" you can do the job smile.gif

How did the interview go? Were there long pauses? Did you seem to answer their questions fully?

As said above, the length of the interview does indicate that you didn't make a fool out of yourself! However, it's very hard to tell. I had an interview a few weeks ago that went amazingly, I banged home every question perfectly and showed indepth knowledge of the company and their products. However, I didn't even get called for 2nd interview, as apparently I was too "professional" hmmm...Yet, I had another interview (phone) more recently that I thought went badly and I've been called in for a proper interview, so you really can't tell!

Anyway, fingers crossed mate and if you don't get called for 2nd interview then ask why not; ask them if it was your CV or your interview technique. Learn from each interview 169144-ok.gif

I keep forgetting you can ask for the details of the interview. I will be doing this in future i think if i am not succesful. Anyway got another one today so perhaps i can get a bit better idea this time.

No long pauses mainly them telling me about the job but every question i answered fully and tried to show my posertive side. 169144-ok.gif

Erm, why not ask them?

That's a serious answer. IMO it appears keen and it also makes people reflect on the positives as they are often a little nervous of saying you were rubbish to your face.

This is a good point! It also depends on what type of job you've applied for. I have a friend who works for a sales person recruitment consultancy. They get their candidates to say at the end of the interview "what faults do I have? Is there any reason you don't think I can do this job?" If they say "No, you seen perfect" then you can reply "Fine, when is the second interview" wink.gif

I guess for less sales orientated jobs this would appear to be overly agressive, but like I say, just depends what you've applied for.

Anyway, keep positive mate and if you don't get this then just think of it as interview experience 169144-ok.gif

I do a lot of interviewing for my company, and to be honest I would not spend 1 hour 35 minutes interviewing someone that I didn't think could do the job.

You can normally tell in the first 10 minutes if someone is up to it, and I always devise signals with my fellow interviewers so that we can cut it short if we all think it is going no where.

You should take the length of the interview as a (very) positive sign in my opinion.

Good Luck 169144-ok.gif

Just been for the other interview (diferet company) It went really well probably a bit to well. Both the people who interviewed me agreed thet i interview very well and wondered why i had not been offered a job by another company that had interviewed me previously. I made a joke about this which went down fairly well. Something along the lines of i obviously need to work on my C.V then.

Anywho it sounds like a great job much better than the one i was going for yesterday. Just got to think positive and hope they are willing to take me on and not someone else. Cant get to carried away with it as i dont want to be dissapointed if i dont get it. Its just a job after all.

I hate it when candidates ask how it went at the end of the interview, fecking wait to be told! smashfreakB.gif

Collease> Whenever I've interviewed the length of the interview directly correlates with performance... if the candidates good even a first interview has lasted 2 hours or on the flip side they've seen the door after 15 minutes (just tell them we're only seeing people briefly to get a feel and don't call us we'll call you wink.gif )

Just been offered the job that i went for yesterday. going to be taking it but this does now pose a problem i had not thought of. I will have no access to the internet and therfor my TSN life may well come to an end. I think i will have to get a computer at home so i can have the web. Dont think i can go for to long without moaning about something. grin.gif
