BLOCK
[ QUOTE ] I think it may have been semi prepped already by looking at the photos does not seem to be straight off the transporter protection. [/ QUOTE ] It was taken off the transporter , the wrapping removed, and then jet washed off. thats defo all they did with my permission first. actually its not that bad, ive just spent the afternoon taking the wheels off and wheel waxing them and then washing and claying the car in preparation for tomorrows polishing session and under the security lights the swirls arent that bad at all , in fact most people would struggle to spot them. still its geting polished, glazed, sealed and then waxed tomorrow and then it should look 100% heres a teaser anyhow... eldiablorubino
looking very nice indeed BLOCK i admire your patience, it is my intention to wash, polish and seal my car and wheels the day I pick it up... I just hope I don't get too carried away with driving it and getting it run in!!! i am going to order my new cleaning products this week, Klasse All In One (cleanser & polish), Klasse Sealant Glaze, Sonus Gloss Shampoo, Acrylic Glanz, Acrylic Spritz and some Poorboys Wheel Sealant to go on top of the Klasse on the Monzas! Not long to go for me now, less than 3 weeks until delivery by my reckoning!!! (build week starts TOMORROW so i am allowing 2 weeks for shipping, delivery to dealer and PDI and collection - does that sound about right?!) RedRobin
....Two weeks in addition to the end of build week is possibly optimistic. It depends if it catches the weekly ship to the UK and how quickly it gets logged when parked on UK soil. I'm not trying to put you off but just give you real-world information. Hopefully it will come quickly.
Oli
Mine was two weeks and a couple of days, like RR say it all depends if it catched the ferry
RedRobin
....I hope you're wearing your Sunday Best suit today, Oli I wondered yesterday why this guy I didn't recognise was being so friendly! Good to see you again and I think how you've modded your car externally makes it look very classy and actually more expensive. These guys waiting for their GTIs are going to hate them when they eventually arrive, aren't they .

eldiablorubino
just to clarify... i'm expecting to pick the car up about two weeks after the END of the build week (so around three weeks from now). that allows two full weeks for shipping, PDI and preparation by the dealer... sleepless nights here i come! BLOCK
Right time to report back. Having collected my gti from my dealers on saturday morning i spent most of the weekend polishing it but today i got the chance to give it a run out and take a few pics, so into the lake district i went. on the whole im chuffed with the car and the options i went with, the white took a bit of deciding on but now its here in the flesh i know it was the right choice, the bonus of this is that i still havent see one on the road around west cumbria. the other option that took some deciding on was the dsg, after just a couple of days driving it im starting to get a feel for it but at the min im just trying to keep it in d mode because if i switch to manual i just cant help myself, and with it being brand new i am trying to run it in semi gently. the ipod works a treat and the bi-xenons are amazing, its like feckin daylight. out on the road it does everything i was expecting, it can be a relaxing car to drive and a manic car to drive whichever mood suits. on the twisty b roads in the lakes in manual mode and using the paddle shifts it was awesome but easy to get into liscence loosing teritory even on the twistys, and it is rapid, i cant wait till its run in. the tyres still need to settle as it felt a bit wobbly on quick direction changes but ive only done 100 odd miles relatively easily. i know this aint a big report but i'll report back when ive had the car long enough to bond with it and get it run in. anyhow heres some more pics for you all...... petsy
one member on here has experienced the police knocking at his door because a car bearing his number plate was used on the other side of the country for a robbery. was it a coincidence that he previously posted pics with his full number plate visible? BLOCK
could that not have happened from just from normal road use, one of my sisters friends car number plates was used in a robbery in london and her car has never been anywhere near the internet. besides a cumbrian px code would immediately look suspicious in london etc.
MarcWatts
Just like to say mate, I think it looks absolutley awesome! I pick up my Tornado red one this Saturday, so will post some pics once I have mine. All the best with it BLOCK!
doug7
I know what you are going through with your waiting for your GTI as I picked mine up a couple of weeks ago on the 1/9/06 and I was up at 4am ready to pick it up, kids with their toys..... Although white looks good, Red is still the best. My backside now has a Recaro appearance to it. Loving every minute of it although I am in Houston on a course just now and can't wait to get home to her again. It will be like taking delivery all over again.
