Buying a used car

Hi All,

I'm currently trying to find myself a new car either a cheap S3 or an A3 Quattro. Currently I'm checking autotrader but what other sites would people recomment that I checkout as there don't seem to be too many cars which fall into my price range. Saying that I missed out on an S3 going for £11k which would have been nice! I have looked on the audi web site but generally the cars are too new for me same goes for the likes of Fontain.

Cheers,

Chris.

You don't say how much you want to spend !!

You could have had my 1999 V S3 for £12,500 if you'd have posted your question last week.

I assume it will be up for sale at Tonbridge Audi in the next week or so - £15k or so, I guess.

It depends how much you know about cars, but I reckon buying an S3 or A3 Quattro without a warranty is a risky business, as major repair bills could be very expensive.

Buying from a dealer is obviously more expensive up-front, but you should get at least a 1 year warranty.

If you're interested in my S3, send me a PM, and I'll give you more info. I'm due to give it back to the garage on Friday and pick up my cheque !

Thanks for your post. I'm looking to spend max about £13k but preferably less than that.

You maybe right about buying without a warranty but at the end of the day appart from all the 4wd kit if anything really major went wrong I'd probably do it myself. I've been driving an A3TS for long enough now to know most of the major problems. Some of the cars I have seen have had 3 month warranties as a plus point.

Shame I only decided over the weekend that I was going to go with the S3, before then I was pretty much set on an A3TQ but couldn't find anything I liked.

You don't want to pull a fast one on the dealer do you tongue.gif

Cheers,

Chris.
