Replacing front and rear pads

Hi All,

No doubt this has been covered before somewhere in here but I can't seem to find it...

Does anyone know how easy/hard it is to replace the front and Rear brake pads on a 2002 1.8T 20V Sport Passat?

Also will the dash light self cancel once I replace the pads or will I need a vagcom to reset it?

Also I hear that you need a particular tool to push the rear brake piston back in...can anyone confirm this please?

lastly...if anyone has instructions (maybe with photos) or has a link to a guide on replacing the pads I would very very much appreciate it.

Cheers in advance...

Brake pad sensor works on contacts. Once replaced the light will go off.

Make sure you get the right pads as there is two different tyres of connector's for the sensor. Otherwise you will have to splice the wires together like on my car - annoying when the connector comes loose and the light comes back on!

I found that everywhere quoted two different size discs for the 1.8T. However 99% of cars will have the smaller one's. Couldn't find which models of 1.8T had the big ones (if any).
