AnArtist1
I know nothing in this department (carwise!) Question 1: Can the CD changer thing in the boot be easily swapped for a modern mp3/CD player thingy? Question 2: And what can be put there instead? Question 3: Will another CD/mp3 player actually work with the TV, SatNav and stuff?
Ska
Are you talking about your S8 ? Whats wrong with your OE stuff? Q's 1 and 2 depend on the answer to Q3. I suppose you could try and find out who manufactured the CD changers for Audi could be Blaupankt or Alpine Don't know of any one else. Alternatively there are other ways to attach another CD chager which involves an FM modulator (not sure how to integrate that to the TV etc with out looking at it) but this way has poor performance. What type of stereo equipment have you got and is it available for the 4.2 sport of the same year? I'll see if I can't dig something out Alternatively Craig where are you? drmotorsport
1. yes as long as it's compatible. 2. I've got a Phatbox in my S8 - far better than a cd changer and then i've got some 160 CD's and other MP3's in the car with little faffing around. 3. Yes as long as you don't change the head unit. A8_Tony
The biggest problem is that the RNS-D units don't understand MP3's IIRC. They work with the Phatbox, because that has a software and hardware 'hack' that treats it like a CD changer. Alpine do a CD/MP3 changer here that is supposed to be an OEM swap, but only for head units that understand MP3's
