What are everyones opinion on RNS-E or a TomTom, I know the RSN-E looks great but how does it compare with functions? I like the fact thet you get the speed camera warnings with a TomTom, do you get these on the RSN-E? Also what TomTom is a good alrounder to go for or are there better other makes such as Garmin etc? Does anyone have any pics of non RNS-E installs of various makes as I am not keen on the stuck on window look!

Cheers

Terry

Tomtom One all the way.

If you look in the GTI forum someone has installed one in the area just in front of the gear stick. Not exactly in the line of site but you can see the screen and hear the audio of the directions / speed camera warnings etc. and can also see all of the POI oh and use it as a bluetooth hands free kit as well. Quite a lot then.

When £400 gets you top of the range 910 and its £2k for RNS-E its a no brainer especially on an A3. If it was an A8 I might be saying something different but its not so.

Have a look in the pics in the link below onof my old Tomtom Palm setup. 169144-ok.gif

I bought my A3 RNS-E for £600 off ebay.

Adapters and GPS atenna were another £70 and it too me around 40 minutes to install it all. Then got £100 back on the symphony.

When I sold my car I got nearly £21k back for it when there were loads of s-lines the same age and mileage with everything bar the Nav+ going for £19k.

Tom Tom is a great little unit, but you can sell a car with the Nav+ so much easier than the cars without come resale time it is worth adding it imho, plaus if you buy it right you will get your money back or even make a little.
