therealvw
HI, got an N reg Pug 106. Great little run-about. BUT, the speedo has decided to throw a wobbler! I'm not 100% sure if it heat related, because it works ok for about 1 mile, then goes pear shaped. Needle fluctuate between correct speed and zero. This happens for about another mile, then goes to just above zero. Turning of and restarting the car does not reset the problem. The reason I think it cold be heat related is that after it has been left for a couple of hours, say over night, or at work, it works fine again for a mile or two. The speedo is an electronic one and not the old fashioned cable "wound" ones. So, where is the speedo sensor on the engine, and if anyone has any diagrams them can you please email me those? rothwell
It isn't like a 106 can actually break any speed limits.... Sorry... Just not a 106 fan. I can't help you with the problem, probably loose connection though. I find the following phrase applies to all things with French build quality (or rather the lack of) "If in doubt give it a clout"
Mouse
Probably because it doesn't go above 0MPH and therefore doesn't merit a working speedo (unless it's a GTI) Joking aside I agree with Rothwell, probably a loose connection

steelwind101
<< Ownes P106 1.6 XL 3dr Auto 9.1s 0-62mph @ santa pod a couple of yrs back. Very few "real mods" tis strangley quick and it has 3 gears and first peaks at about 60 i normally step off and stamp back on at around 55 to save my ears. Was also badged as a Saxo VSX. Not my main car of course it only has 18K on the clock i got it new when i passed my test and is still around with us today. Now i have 530d, Accord Tourer and a Dodge 3500 C600 but always kept the 106 as its a strange hoot!! I have so much fun choosing the rightlane on dual carriage way traffic lights and seeing all the cars bundle in the left and watching them left standing. Esp. when there bonnets are are bouncing up and down from their gear changes. Always a bit of a give away when you see it and it looks this good though: Geoff
therealvw
Ahh well. Worth a try! Nice Polo BTW. I had a Colour COncept TDi until I bounced it off both sides of a carriageway in France last December. Hence the 106 as a run about. Esure phecked us about with the claim and the people who brought the car back from France knicked all our booze from the boot and also opened some the presents we were bringing back for our friends in Lightwater! We are hopefully off to NZ soon, and so didn't want to fork out on something too expensive. Hence the 106. SO, thanks for all your totally invaluable advice!
