Briggs
Hi all, Venturing across from Audi for a brief visit A mate of mine is looking get a 1 series - budget of around £20k - he's wanting to go down the Import route to save a few pennies, but not sure of where to start, or the potential hidden costs (like resale value) - anyone here done it, or have you all played safe from a main dealer? gizze
Can't see he point myeself, you can get a 130i m-sport for just under £24k new (£4k + saving) or a 120d m-sport for just over £20k. You may save £1000 at most, then when you want to extend the warranty for the third year (imports only have two years) it will cost you £700 a year plus an excess of £250 to claim. Plus it will always be an import, so you will loose more than you save. Check out drivethedeal.com and oneswoop.com for quotes, or buy one that is 6 months old, there are 06 plate 130i's out there for under £20k with virtually no miles on them, or cars with loads of toys including sat-nav for around £21/22k if you have a deal. Awesome cars though, my wife has had one for a week now and it just impresses more and more, the balance, handling and feedback from the steering is spot on. Can't praise it enough. martin275
gIzzE is spot on. It isn't worth messing around with an import because you can get a great deal on a new UK car. I also agree with his comments regarding the driving experience. We've had the 130 for 7 months now and it continues to impress. It puts a smile on my face from the moment I press the start button!
