MOSE
Following on from Wopp's original thread concerning the VXR 500 here is a review on how the car performs. VXR 500 Review I'm already counting my pennies in the money jar and from debtors and other things about to be paid and might even consider doing a bit of local extortion. BO55 will have his fitted shortly and will no doubt give a review of how the car feels wit the Harrop fitted

steve2
wouldn't it be nice if the Monaros that will be at MPH06 were these, just think of the noise
BO55VXR
There's actually only a few VXR Monaros left and only a few of them will be converted. So, there is only a limited run of about 15-
NewNiceMrMe
Hmm, I'm not sure if BMW will see it that way because they're in such completely different guises as cars. However, I can't argue it's not in a similar performance vein on those figures alone (although of course an M6 is known to be capable of 206mph). I'd still pick an M6 over one without any hesitation, but for £41k...there simply isn't any question that its a stunning car for the money. Paul
[ QUOTE ] I bet it whines a lot... Rest assured, you're left in no doubt that this car is supercharged. The belt driven Harrop blower is so vocal, it sounds like Janet Street-Porter on a bad day. [/ QUOTE ] If i wasnt buying a house id be looking at a Monaro. [ QUOTE ] The VXR 500. Officially the fastest ever production Vauxhall, it makes the Lotus Carlton seem like a minicab… [/ QUOTE ]

Do you think an M6 would give you as much pride of ownership as a very special, way more elite muscle car? It may be a Vauxhall but leave the badge out of it. As a clued up person in the fashion business, this VXR is way cooler!
MOSE
Wopps....the Vaux bit is literally the badge. As already discussed on other threads. Vaux literally market the car in the UK, other than that it is HSV DNA through and through. A few owner have had the Vaux badges removed, mine will be next!! It aint Vauxhall....they simply SELL IT! I'm pouring praise on it in fact. I'm just being honest and saying I'd prefer what I would see as the better overall engineered product in the M6. MOSE had a bad experience with BMW so I entirely appreciate his stance too. I've had a perfect 6-series ownership experience and I'd much prefer an M6 for the package you get. As I said, lets not turn this into VXR 500 versus M6 because the M6 is very much the thoroughbred performance car and I think it'd be unfair on a hybrid-engineered Vauxhall (by that I mean a combination of a dealer and a specialist tuning firm verus a full scale manufacturers research and testing facilities). Fantastic car, but its each to their own. If I was spending £35-41k then its seriously up there. If my budget was higher, then all I'm saying is it wouldn't be as high on my list. MOSE
Only one thing I wanna raise out of this debate is the Vauxhall thing. The car is very unfortunately BADGED as a Vauxhall, and as already agreed in previous threads the car deserves to be known by its original DNA. So can we now begin to compare the car as like for like with the HSV badge?? I would feel so much happier
v15ben
HSV would be a much better badge for the car MOSE. In Australia, the highest performance Monaros are like celebrities! Everyone turns their head when one drives past. If only they had badged the VX220 series of cars with something more interesting than the Luton Griffin, maybe they would have been more cool too. MOSE
Well my point entirely mate.....the "highest perormance Monaros" as you describe are known as HSV GTOs in OZ, but like for like, exactly the same car is badged as a Monaro VXR in the UK. But as it flashes a Vaux badge, we are natuarlly Vaux owners. NOT THE CASE!!
sayerbloke
OK, Pontiac Goat it is, then! I'd be tempted to get hold of badges for all three of it's main names and swap them daily. That'd confuse people!
