batty
I've seen that audi offer a package where they pay for you and your partner to go to pick up your new audi from Ingolstadt. Its in the audi.com website. There's also a discount on the new car purchase price. the problem is that it seems to be only for mainland europe customers. Does anyone know if this is available for UK customers ?? Audi UK customer services weren't very halpful and just told me to contact my local dealer, but having just ordered a new TT from them (for them to deliver & PDI) I can't see them being very helpful on this. Also, in general, it seems like it will take work away from the dealership - surely they're not going to be too keen to promote it ? Has anyone any info ? mikemod
I tried this when I was Buying my GTI but was told it was not possible as the paperwork for the production of the car took it from the start of the assembly to the dealer and they could not interrupt the process However if I had been buying a Phaeton (£60K+) I could go and pick it up. Will22
When my brother was getting his RS4 last December he went to Germany to pick it up, however he didn't buy it from Audi U.K.
PetrolDave
Even US Audi customers now get the "collect from the factory" option. They collect the car, drive it to a port and AoA (Audi of America) arrange all the shipping (in a container) and insurance, and delivery to the customers local Audi dealer in the US. Why the heck can't Audi UK get this sorted out? It would be a whole lot easier for them. But then Audi UK are a useless bunch of

But then Audi UK are a useless bunch of [/ QUOTE ] I got my W12 on the VIP programme, which Audi UK were using as a kind of pilot to see if customer collections would be a good thing. I really loved the whole experience: business class flight with Lufthansa to Munich, collected in an A8L W12, night in the Ambassador hotel in Ingolsdadt, factory tour, lunch, museum tour, collect car with handover photo, Ambassador hotel again, drive to Neckarsulm (doing over 170 mph on the autobahn on the way), factory tour, get right grille put on car, site tour, car washed and refuelled, new handover photo, drive to Calais in under five hours, overnight, chunnel to Blighty and a rip up the M20/M25/M11/A1/A46 home, all with international transfer plates for an added air of mystery. However, when I asked if I could pick up the S8, I was told that "Audi UK aren't going to do the customer collection programme - they had some negative feedback and decided not to do it". I smell bullpoo; nobody could choose to go on a jolly like that and not enjoy it thoroughly. I suspect that it costs them too much money in flights, hotels, paperwork etc. Easier to let a bunch of stock handlers rip the feck out of a few thousand new cars at a time while loading/unloading them from various trains, ferries and lorries before they reach the dealer. Very poor show, Audi UK.
Ari
I'd love to do this. It would be a major brand loyalty promotion for them too. Agree it's down to costs at the end of the day no doubt.
Froggy
Merc have offered this for years on anything from a C class upwards, and it used to be at the same cost as the delivery charge. Seems a big shame for Audi not to offer it, especially as the Ingolsdadt site is so nice....
