Gran Turismo, future sounds bleak.

That's bleak and certainly not cheap. Word is the next proper GT (excluding a long-delayed PSP version and the designer's GT for kids spin-off) will be GTHD for the PS3. Basically GT4 with tarted up graphics before they do a full PS3 specific version (GT5). They do appear to have secured at least one Ferrari, (the ugly 599) which is proof that I was justified in boycotting GT4 for not having any (Seriously, I did that), how many they actually get will remain to be seen. I'm betting on only the current range.

Of greater import, and certainly a death knell for the series as far as I'm concerned, is the apparent embrace of content download by the creators and Sony, to an extent I've never seen. Basically, the current rumour is that GTHD will be the bare bones of a game, perhaps with only a handfull of tracks and cars, the rest will be downloadable from Sony's online service... for a price. Kazunorui Yamauchi assures us that whatever you download for GTHD will be able to carry over to GT5 whenever it arrives.

crazy.gif I'm sure I read something about this a while ago, the report was saying that to get the game + all tracks + all cars could cost something in the region of $400 smashfreakB.gif

In a way this is a good thing for the future of gaming.

GT4 came with like 1000 cars, with like 17 different versions of the ford focus, etc.

Whats the point? 99% of people will stick to the same 5-10 cars which are the best in each class.

Make the game cheaper, give a core compliment of cars, and allow people to buy the other cars they want.

I do disagree with buying tracks though, they should either be in the original game, or not produced at all.

Things get delayed as most companies are penny-pinchers and don't put enough resources where it's needed at the right time. They are also making more complex games which takes longer to build and debug. I really cannot see GT:HD costing more than $400 unless there is 10 times the normal amount of content available to download. If they do produce much more, then it's up to you what you spend. People spending the same amount on a game, as the console cost want shooting however.

You pay it, the publishers then assume you're happy with that and the circle continues. smashfreakB.gif

I got bored very quickly with GT4.

Yeah same here.

I think if it was online and driving the cars head to head it would be stunning. I think I will review getting a PS3 when a decent driving game comes out on it ... will have to see when that is.
