Interior light pack question - door lamps

Picked up my ex-demo 3.0 TDi Cab today - and had an enjoyable run back up the motorway from Exeter to Warwick, via Maidenhead....no I didn't get lost!

An indicated 44.9mpg from a brimmed tank and a refill suggests 41mpg - very close to my 2.O TDI A3 at 42-43mpg - well pleased.

The Cab has an interior light pack - illuminated vanity mirrors and the red LEDs in the overhead console are all there...the lamps in the bottom of the doors are there but don't seem to work. Also my last Cab with an Int Light pack had footwell courtesy lamps - are they no longer fitted on B7s?

Have I missed something - a quick read of the manual sheds no light at all.....

Thoughts appreciated!

My 3.0TDI cab has interior light pack and the lamps in the doors work fine!

But I think you'll find you don't have the interior light pack....

With the cabriolet, you get more lighting as standard. e.g. vanity mirrors and overhead red LEDS are standard.

...So the interior light pack on the cab adds lights to the footwells (both front and rear) and the doors, and probably a couple of other places I haven't noticed.

Thanks Chav - you are most probably right - although the illuminated vanity mirrors and background lighting for the centre console + entry/exit lights are all supposed to be part of the Int Light Pack.

My A3 wasn't ordered with an Int Light Pack and that has blanks in the bottom of the doors where the lamps should be - the A4 has the lamps fitted.

From the A4 brochure/price list:

Interior light pack comprising:

• Entry/exit door lights

• Make-up mirrors

• Background lighting for centre console

I wonder if I have a fuse gone....I'll call the dealer tomorrow.

The Int light pack with my new cab should have come as standard (as it was the 3.2)but for some reason, like you, only the vanity mirror, arm rest , and LED downlighters were actually fitted.

I questioned Listers about this and it turned out that in my case there was a change in spec between when i placed the order and when i took delivery, ie I actually had half an Interior lightpack.

If you look at the doors you will see the red door light near the bottom and there is also a light fitting under the door called a puddle light. So in the case of the door lights the light fittings are in place the thing that is missing is the lighting wire harness to connect them to the door open switch. I am going to look at getting this retrofitted at my next service. As for the footwell lights, I am just gonna leave those for now.

Having had the lighting pack in the old cab, I really got use to it , which is why I wanted it again. Oh well may be in the B8 cab next time grin.gif

Might be worth checking a fuse. The S4 has footwell lights front and rear (these are actually mounted under the front seats) and the rear ones didn't work when I got it - checks revealed it to be a fuse. The doors have white lights in the bottom edges, red lights on the open side and red illumination of the interior door handles.

red illumination of the interior door handles

Is this on a B6 or B7 - dont recall seeing this on my B6 S4 - can you give any more detail please - i have all the other lights you mentioned.

thanks

Yep - mine is also a 2003 (Sept) and I'm certain that the full interior light pack was always standard on the S4's. The door handle illumination is fairly subtle, more of a dim red glow in the recess where your fingers go in to pull the stainless steel handle out, but it should be visible on all four doors. You should also have full illumination of ashtray interiors and even the business card holder thingy next to the ESP button. 169144-ok.gif

Thanks, yours is the same as mine then - I'd be interested to know the outcome of the door loom idea, do you have a timescale attached to this by any chance?

Also you mention Listers - I live in Warwick so both their Coventry and Stratford branches are close to me, where are you?
