X-BOX 360 overheating?

Just got it last weekend and it occasionally it locks up when after being played hard for a couple of hours. When it does this its loading something from the disk and it just hangs and you've got to off/on it to continue. It's not a dirty or scratched disk because the game is new. Could it be overheating?

I've had numerous hangs on games with mine, id say a combination of hardware and software ones.

Mine does get quite warm, but i wouldn't say it overheated, i've certainly had 12 hour sessions on numerous occasions. Im sure you know to have it well ventilated.

I had my original 360 die on me, but im pretty sure that was the DVD Drive, as it was making funny noises before dying.

Mine hangs too.. Got Saints Row a few weeks ago.. Console can hang after 20-30mins... Never had it before.. But this is a problem with early Xbox 360's playing the latest games.. More complex games put the machine under more strain.. Causing it to hang..

I've still to speak to Game about return/repair/replacement... Depending on the outcome I might just upgrade the cooling bits inside it myself..

Think the problem is with the power supply (brick) overheating and not the actual console. Try placing the power supply where it can get good ventilation.
