Criteria is 11k, abit 'sporty' and have 4 reasonable seats for 2 adults and 2 teenagers.

We all went around the usual suspects last night, but I came up with a gem.

Clio 182.

Scoobys/Evos a NONO3.GIF

BMW's a NONO3.GIF

Mick is impressed with a Civic Type R but I think we talked him out of it !! smashfreakB.gif

No No No NONO3.GIF

Not the Civic Typr R Pete.

I'm impressed with the Seat Leon Cupra R

Anyway....

So your budget is £11k.

Criteria is :-

Should seat 4 people (doesn't need to have 4 doors though)

respectable performance

Any ideas?

is his hearing going now as well??

Poor old boy. Reckon he still had ear fluid problems from his flight back home.

how about another S3? 169144-ok.gif

Yeah.

Been looking at those too but compared to the Cupra R you have to look at a 2 year older car with quite a bit more mileage on it.

Still not completly out of the running yet though 169144-ok.gif

Second the LCR if thats your criteria. You should be able to get a 53/04 for that money. There are some very overpriced second hand ones. Dont forget that SEAT dropped the price on the last batch of 05 cars to £15k. People are still trying to sell them for that second hand now. smashfreakB.gif

I ran one for 2 1/2 years and its the best car I've ever had from a driving fun point of view...

Third (fourth?) vote for the Leon Cupra. Great little car. Cheap to own too.

I'm not so sure on the cheap to own bit. Tyres are 225/40 18's so as much as an Audi, engine is an S3 mota minus the 4wd gubbins so service is pretty much the same as Audi's and we all know how cheap that is, its got Brembo's up the front as standard and a new set of disks and pads will set you back £425 at a dealer, this willl need doing by 20k as I found out. SEAT service prices are not much less than Audi's in my experience but as I say, the driving experience makes it worth it. Cracking car.

Thanks for your comments so far guys.

The ST220 is a "nice" motor but that's all it is...."nice".

It is a car that just sits on my drive.

I don't look at it and think, "I want to take that out for a spin". It has all the toys and it is fairly respectful performance wise. It just isn't my type of car.

Anyway it's sold now and it goes Sunday.

Chris. M5 is far too big for me. The Mondeo is too. Never really been a big car lover.

Luckily I have a friend who works at the local Seat dealer and is the head mechanic there. So parts/servicing etc is not going to be a problem if I find a good Cupra R.

It is looking that an R fits my criteria.

I haven't even driven one yet but all the reports I have seen have nothing but praise for it.
