rabh
I've got an 04 plate A3 8P which comes with the newer grill, but not the newest type of grill as seen on the 05 onwards A3s. Ie it looks like the grill in this review: http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/roadtests/0307scc_2004_audi_a3/ In 05 they introduced the newer grill. I was wondering if it would be possible to retrofit it to my car? There is a thread here on a US site about retrofitting s-line grills: http://forums.thecarlounge.com/zerothread?id=2784929 But that applies to cars that already have the newer style grill. Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
gizze
There was a guy in germany or sweden that did the change, think it was on the fortitude forum, but this was a couple of years ago now. Was a big job. ABT do a cover that snaps on and makes it look like a single fram grille for about £80.
h5djr
Looking at the part numbers in the parts catalogue the grills seem to be the same apart from the last suffix letter. There are also only two types of frames listed for the 2005 model year for single grill. One from 06/05 onwards and one for 11/05 onwards. May be worth visiting a dealer and getting them to check for you.
ahaydock
I have looked into this also, check here: http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/showthread.php?t=26428&highlight=grill+conversion It is a big job, and as mentioned ABT do a plate, but it does not sit flush - I would like to see one in the flesh really. If you do go to your Stealers I would be keen to know what they say.
Nelson_R32
Your main issue is the painting time and the fact that the car needs a new bonnet. If you want it done I can price you up a retrofit kit but bear in mind you're looking the wrong side of £700.00 once its all done and painted. The good news is you can fit an S-line bumper while you're at it I guess. If you're seriously interested I'll price you up for all the parts
Arex
Please do, if you can. My A3 has the full vortex kit and I have killed my front bumper. I was told you couldn't retrofit this stuff by the local stealer and that I needed a new bumper and lower lip for the car. If you can retrofit it and also fit the sline front end that would give me a new grille and probably save a few ££££.
Vertigo1
Surely it's going to be the new bonnet that's going to be the biggest expense?

h5djr
There are in fact two part numbers in the parts catalogue for the bonnet on the 8P A3. 8P0 823 029 B is the original bonnet (for the old type grill used on the 3-door only and 8P4 898 029 is listed as Retrofit kit - bonnet - single frame (used on later 3-door and all 5-door models)
