Starkitten
I have recently been having problems with my brakes. When applying gentle pressure to the brake pedal when bearing or turning left, the pedal judders as if the ABS is kicking in, then the pedal goes solid. If I stop applying pressure, the pedal goes back to the normal position. I called the VW garage I brought it from who advised me that they thought it was a problem with the sensors and to take it in. Once they had looked over it, they called me to say that the pads were 80% worn and would need changing as this was causing the problem. They said it would cost me £110. I thought that my pads would have lasted a while longer (especially as the first service is due and i had no warning lights to tell me they needed doing!) but begrudgingly told them to do it for the sake of my warranty. However....here I am four days later with the same problem! I have to take it back in and go on a road test with a mechanic. Does anyone have any idea as to what the problem could be? I'm a bit miffed at having to pay out for pads which obviously weren't causing the problem so soon after xmas Any help much appreciated!!!!!! Mook
Well your pads needed changing, so I wouldn't complain about it! Normally, it will be a case of plugging in the diagnostics, which is probably why the garage has told you it may be/is the problem. Check that the rings that the sensors monitor are completely clear of any muck. There's also a possibility that one of the wires to the sensors has become damaged - when you corner, the wire is being stretched or compressed, causing it to earth or short. Loads of possibilities - I would presist with it if I were you.
