jimmyp Posted January 21, 2007 Report Share Posted January 21, 2007 In my MKiv ive left the head unit standard but have changed all four speakers and have had an amp wired up to the head unit to power them as as in standard trim it doesn't cut it, ive also got another amp that powers the sub in the boot. The sound is much better but set me back about £800, but RS32 should be along soon to explain what he runs as is is just awesome and spent double what i did. You'll find that by changing the stock head unit with its maximum wattage of 2 makes a huge difference as the stock speakers aren't actually that bad Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I run the following : Pioneer AVIC-HD1BT headunit - it has a decent parametric EQ with very nice ability to adjust everything. JL Audio 300/4 Amp JL Audio 653CSi front components (6.5", 4" and 1") JL Audio 650CS rear components (6.5" and 1") Dynamat Extreme in all doors The whole setup looks completely standard OEM other than the headunit. I've had to back off the Amp levels after testing it out as it's made me feel physically sick from the sheer volume it will go to without distorting. This certainly can't make things worse and will not be wasted if you upgrade the whole system. Do it - I know mhlj83 has already and he seems very pleased. I'll deffo see about the Dynamat as i've got a decent shop just down the road from here called Sound master. The guy is totally switched on.
