moggle
I have a 2004 model A6 1.9TDI, which has started to loose coolant. I first noticed when the dash warning symbol was displayed. The resevoir was almost empty when I checked. I topped up with distilled water and booked in to the local Audi garage. Is coolant leaking a typical problem for the A6? Are there any hoses or other items that could be a problem? The car is almost out of warranty and if problems persist I may look to change. citizen
Had a similar issue and turned out to be a very minor fracture in the plastic header tank, at the base. You could 'smell' the hot collant hitting a hot manifold but could only see if it you stuck your head in an awkward position..... Fortunately it was under warranty - although not a particularly difficult item to change by all accounts. IIRC it was mentioned as a 'not uncommon problem'. moggle
My local Audi dealer found the problem which turned out to be a faulty water pump. Still under warranty but I would not expect this part to fail so soon.
Edd_W
Quite rare but the header tanks are prone to splitting as have VAG header tanks for the past 25 years - sometimes things do not improve with time do they?
