Now that's more like it from a performance tuning point of view. I just wish they could have used the current US market 5 pot and turbo'd it so we could have the best of both worlds... Anice turbo/intercooler system to play around with, and the lovely warble of a tuned 5pot as opposed to a 4pot sounding as though it's always being thrashed to within an inch of it's life...

I cant wait, I have the first 'retail' one coming into the country, as my order is logged with VW UK. That should be awesome a more powerful 2.0 TFSI GTI with 4WD, nice and light and nimble - Nice.

Mook have you got a lnik to where this info is from.

Oh and shouldnt all this be in the RSI thread 169144-ok.gif

Just got back from my local VW dealer.

I got chatting to one of the guys and the R36 came up. He handed me a copy of VWs’ own “Sprint” magazine. The black 400bhp R-GTI from SEMA gets a 5 page spread and I’m told something similar will be available to order from late this year as a very limited edition. The front looks very similar to the car in the first link. I actually went to the dealer to get some R32 info, but was advised to wait a couple of months till this R-GTI gets announced. sekret.gif

He also mentioned a 210bhp version of the 1.4 TSI engine becoming available – No idea what car it’s to go in though, Maybe the IROC late next year??

The plot thickens… grin.gif

Is the S3 available with DSG? Ah, so you've answered the question, then...

....but the GTI is. Is it definitely going to be 4 wheel drive? It could be a lightweight, stripped out 'drivers' version of the GTI - as with the TT Coupe Sport. I'm sure I remember rumours of a lightweight GTI when the MKV was launched..

....My brain is getting over excited! Are we saying that there is a strong possibility of there being a 4-pot Turbo 2.0 FSI (rather than Turbo+Supercharger) 280 GTI with 4WD ??

I absolutely bow to the superior sound of a V6 but a mature Milltek'd GTI 4-pot still sounds pretty good imo - It's nice music to drive to! Sorry - This is the .:R forum and not the GTI but we are closely related by our Golfyness grin.gif.

Anybody Else with a R32 on order, with a slight feeling of regret in the belly...

I hope this aint out till late 08.. sorry guys.... lol

Depends whether you want a V6 or a 4-cylinder.

Having sold a 2.0 turbo Impreza to get the Golf, a 4-pot RSi is of no interest to me - there's no 4-pot out there that drives as nice as a V6 in my book.

Sure, it will be a cracking car if they get it right. But still only a 4-cylinder. Nothing wrong with that, just not worth taking 2 depreciation hits for within 18-24 months.

The only bonus is that if it's 280bhp as standard, 320 is easily possible with remap/exhaust, then can be pushed to 400 with the right internal engine mods. So well into tuned Impreza/Evo territory FIREdevil.gif

my R32 is going nowhere. It's only just starting to come to life and see no point in getting rid 169144-ok.gif

But the GTI is only 200PS, not 265PS like the S3, which you can't get with DSG. Sorry, "Audi R-Line-Sportamatic" tongue.gif

[/ QUOTE ]

So is your reliable source saying no DSG?, or is this pure speculation because the S3 hasnt got DSG?
